2010-2018 Ram 2500 & Ram 3500 Specs & Info

The 6.7L Cummins engine was added to third generation Ram HD trucks in years 2007.5-2009. It added power and helped Ram comply with upcoming emissions standards. 2010 marked the beginning of the 4th generation Cummins which continued until 2018. This generation Ram HD featured a myriad of new features and technology. Quad cab trucks were replaced with full-size crew cabs. Ram retained their Mega Cab models as well! Numerous trims were added to the Ram truck lineup, giving a much needed interior boost. The Laramie Longhorn and Limited trims made Ram trucks a leader in interior luxury. Performance additions included a more reliable 68 RFE transmission, and a new Aisin transmission. Depending on your truck’s transmission, you could actually have different horsepower and torque output in the same model year truck. For that reason, we created a chart for 4th generation 6.7L Cummins Specifications.

While the 6.7L Cummins engine has proven its reliability across the board, there are many different variations of the engine and many improvements have been made over the years. 4th Generation 6.7L Cummins Horsepower And Torque

How much horsepower and torque does a 4th generation Cummins produce? That’s kind of a tough question to answer! From the year 2007 to 2018 the Cummins trucks improved almost 200 lb/ft or torque and 35 horsepower! Unlike the other manufacturers, Ram trucks actually produce different numbers according to their transmission and an available high output option. The new 2019 Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 trucks equipped with the high output engine produce 400 horsepower and 1,000 lb/ft of torque. Here is our horsepower/torque chart to make it easy for you!

6.7L Cummins Emissions

Cummins Ism Bolt Torque Specs

New emissions requirements and the need for a more powerful engine resulted in the birth of the 6.7L Cummins. The 3rd generation Cummins, along with the 5.9L engine had proven to be a reliable and very capable motor. It could no longer meet stricter emissions standards however, and it was getting difficult to increase performance output while lowering carbon emissions. The 6.7L engine held a variety of changes compared to the 5.9L Engine. A diesel particulate filter (DPF) was added to Ram’s heavy duty truck line-up. The purpose being significant reduction of Carbon emissions from the trucks. Since then, Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) have been added as emissions control devices too.
