If you’ve heard of Bubble Trouble, chances are that at one time you were really bored or you needed a simple game that would rob you of a few hours. Bubble Trouble displays simple graphics and offers a true challenge, as it is in the nature of true arcade games.

Shoot harpoons at balloons

The goal of the game is simple. You have a harpoon gun which you must shoot at balloons that jump around and each time you hit one, it splits into two more balloons. It’s like you’re a little pink Hercules that has to kill the balloon equivalent of the Lernaean Hydra.
As the balloons get smaller and smaller, they are more difficult to pop because they bounce around at very small heights, making it easier for them to hit you. If they do so, you have to restart the level.

Things get really complicated as you go along

Initially you start off with one bouncing balloon but as you advance, things turn out to be really complicated because splitting multiple targets leaves you with even more balloons to dodge. Hand eye coordination must be close to perfect if you want to get to the last level and you really do need a good strategy.
For example, you should stick to eliminating one balloon at a time instead of multiplying them until you have no room to move without being hit. On the plus side, apart from an increase in level difficulty, the game also provides various powerup which you can collect and use to your advantage.

True arcade fun

Bubble Trouble is a great example of how a casual arcade game should be. Simple and challenging for players of all ages, as well as playable on just about any PC.

So, to make things interesting (at least a bit) the little bug picks up more speed as you pass the birds. This means that a minute into the game, your reflexes will really be put to the test since you never know the arrangement of birds that are coming your way.
In a short time things will pass by you very fast and you will need to make very fast decisions whether to jump a crow or strafe between them. Either way, mistakes will be made quite often and hopefully this will push you to focus even more.

A classic that’s still alive and well

Bug On A Wire is one of the well known Flash games out there and it will surely stick around for a couple of more years. It’s as casual as games can be and if you’re looking to waste a couple of minutes in a day, Bug On A Wire is a good choice.
